HOW DOES HYPNOTHERAPY WORK?Hypnosis is a natural state. We all drift in and out of it when we daydream, get engrossed in a good book or film and we pass though it just before we go to sleep and just before we awaken each day. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Hypnosis is a state of intense relaxation and concentration in which the conscious mind becomes remote and acts like a distant observer to what is happening and being suggested. Your conscious mind always remains aware and in control, whilst in this altered state of profound relaxation. The subconscious mind is like a vast tape recorder, recording everything we experience. Our minds are full of "old tapes" some of which are useful, like knowing how to drive without consciously thinking about it. Some of these tapes are negative and are of no us to us, preventing us from dealing with emotional issues. Thanks to hypnosis we can communicate with the tape recorder controls of the subconscious mind and change these negative tapes for good, healthy ones.
